Blingrunway Chinese square dragon totem design necklace

My inspiration comes from the Four Chi Dragons pattern (Sì Chī Wén 四螭纹) of China's Spring and Autumn Period. It appears in a circling and intertwining form, and the four directions of the dragon heads symbolize the Four Celestial Poles (Tiān Dì Sì Jí 天地四级). It embodies ancient artisans' beautiful expectations for nobility, exorcism, eternity, and prosperity. 

Based on this pattern, I added rough scale details and shiny dragon horns to the dragon body. The purpose is to use the frosted metal texture of the scales and the smooth texture of the dragon horns to reflect a three-dimensional effect. And I used a small amount of gems for embellishment, so that the color and light of the gems form a sense of hierarchy with the metal texture. On the four dragon heads, teardrop-shaped gems are inlaid using the bezel setting process (Bèi Jié Shè Zhì 工艺), while circular topaz stones are inlaid in the other four directions. The central main stone is a square topaz.

 This necklace is not only a work that combines the oriental charm with Western techniques, but also carries the beautiful wishes of Chinese craftsmen for nobility and prosperity over thousands of years. It seems like a dialogue across time. Oriental concepts emphasize harmony and eternity, while Western techniques pursue precision and innovation. The combination of the two, just like the integration of cultures from ancient to modern times and from the East to the West, endows it with the charm that transcends time and space.
